Kashmir Blues

Kashmir Blues, my second book, is available in India. This one’s for you, all you guys who will read it. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope some of you will share your thoughts with me. Because though writing is a pleasure and delight all its own, the feeling I get when you tell me what you got from the book, and what you didn’t, and what you liked and what incensed you, and which people you hated, identified with, fell in love with – all this means you read it.

Just finished reading Kashmir Blues and enjoyed it. Some parts and characters linger in the memory, urging the reader toward a deeper understanding of those enigmatic blue tears of Shiva. Wish you all the best with your writing and with life.

Warning about Kashmir Blues: Once you start reading, it’s difficult to put down. I have reached Chapter 9 in one continuous reading and may not be able to sleep till I’ve uncovered the mystery behind the “blues”- the mystery that started in the Prologue.

    Rattling good yarn Umi.
Began reading it Sunday, and by lunch Monday, had put it down. In between, I took the overnight train to Kathgodam, a 3 hour car ride through the mountains, and negotiated a land-swap with a recent neighbour in my mountain village.

    • Aseem , I am so glad you enjoyed reading this book. I love Jane Austen, but there are so many great writers in the world, and everyone has such diverse likes and dislikes… you should read as much as you can, of everything. I personally prefer to read non-fiction now, history and politics. Am reading “Humanity” by Jonathan Glover right now.
